Set it up
Knock it down
Milk it dry
That about sums up what the Bar Examiners are looking for in the way of essays. The Agency/Partnership professor offered that little gem today.
He was insane! Very flamboyant and wacky. Some people didn't like him, but I did because those 3 hours flew (well compared to the 6 hours of death that were Wills & Trusts. And I wasn't even trying to be punny there, it just came out that way).
In the end he gave us a 2 page handy-dandy summary of all that was in the previous 21 pages of the handout. He explained that the summary is useful because at this point we are completely "saturated with the amount of material, ie crapola" that he didn't want to overburden us with Agency and Partnership.
Any professor who can work the word "crapola" into a lecture get bonus points from me, especially when he uses it in reference to the piles and piles of information that have been thrown at us for the last 6 weeks in this whole Bar preparation monstrosity.
Tomorrow is the last day of Barbri. The Bar is two weeks (TWO WEEKS!) from today.

Don't you love instructors that are excited about what they do and really convey it into the lecture. I also love the ones that KISS. Who has time for fluff these days anyway?
That's a cool little phrase! And right on for the summary. The whole BB experience isn't really tailored to adult learning... I mean, you can tell they try to make it such by having you fill in the blanks, but it's not active filling in the blanks, ya know. "___, ___, and ____ are signs of a fee simple." I mean, come one. They would really benefit, imho, from an adult learning consultant coming in and auditing their lecture process. Summaries are good. Spewing words at us for 3 hours, not so good.
I'm actually going to write in my evaluation form that Barbri should get rid of the dumb handouts. I think I learned the most in Crim Law, Crim Pro and Torts, where we had no handout and actually took notes. It's way too easy to zone out with the handouts and there's a lot of extraneous stuff that I think gets weeded out when you take real notes.
You are the woman, Kelly. You ARE the woman. I want you to walk into that Bar exam two weeks from today repeating: I AM the woman. I AM the woman. And just think about how great that massage is going to feel afterward! Woo hoo!
