Do You Ever Feel Like the Fates Are Conspiring Against You?

The power went out last night for 6 hours. That's right, following one of the hottest, muggiest days of the summer, we had no AC or fans in our stifling 3rd-floor apartment from 10:30 PM to 4:30 AM. I can't sleep well when I'm hot and sweaty. I could never have been a Southern belle. When everything came back on at 4:30, I woke right up from the little sleep I did get and couldn't get back to sleep until 5:30.

Can someone please inform NStar that when it gets hot people WILL be using their AC's, thus increasing the power demand? I know, we're crazy with the climate control. Actually, power outages have been an ongoing problem in this apartment. A little grid of about 8 homes, including the one I live in, loses power at least once a month. At least. So it's basically a given that if a home is going to lose power based on the overwhelming demand, it will be ours. I would really hate it if I actually owned one of these homes and discovered after closing and moving in and everything that the power goes out constantly.

Anyway, what with the power last night, the flights this weekend, the unexpected interview, and the Bally's pool breaking down so that for several days I couldn't swim and my head was a mess of panic and cloudiness, I'm starting to think that maybe this whole Bar thing just isn't something I'm supposed to do.

Yet I plug along because, well, because if I don't then I'll never ever ever find a job and be dubbed a slacker for the rest of my life. Seriously, wasn't graduating from law school enough?

The corner store is having a 2 12-packs of Diet Coke for $5 special, so I just loaded up on caffeine for the week. I squeeze a little key lime juice in and I'm good to go.

Question for other Barbri people: How many of the Advanced MBE questions are we supposed to be getting right exactly? Because, frankly, I am sucking at them.

All of them! Just messing with your head.

Glad to hear you got back in one piece from your interview. I agree about the laid back interview. It may just be a reflection of a laid back work environment which is much better than stressful micro-management. Also, firm work on your resume looks better than secretarial or temp stuff any day. So if you have to "coast" and pay bills for a while and look for the perfect job in a new city, then okay. And like you said, you may get the bye-bye letter anyway.

Go to your local drugstore and get a battery powered "personal" fan and loads of batteries. It may save you one day when you are studying or trying to sleep (like the night before the bar)

Heh, I was getting slightly below 60% on most of those Advanced questions. Don't stress about it.
