Swimming and Splurging

72 laps today!
And I felt like I could do more. It's days like this when I think, "Why did I stop swimming again?" Oh, right, because Bally's is evil and likes to shut down its pool for months at a time. According to a calorie burning calculator I found online, I'm burning 656 calories an hour (I swim a little faster than 50 yards a minute).

Of course this morning's exercise has already been negated by the 1/3 pint of Ben and Jerry's I ate this afternoon (has anyone else tried Dublin Mudslide? Heaven! I'm trying to figure out if the Irish creme liqueur ice cream and the coffee-fudge stripe make it unkosher in the Mormon world And if they do, I'll probably just shrug my shoulders and say, eh). My exercise efforts will be a complete loss tonight as I venture out to The Cheesecake Factory with Liz to celebrate our half birthdays. Let's hear it for chocolate raspberry truffle!

(Is anyone else picking up on my slightly elevated mood since I started swimming again?)

Most booze flavored sweets aren't made with the actual liqueur itself, but with a "sirop" derived from cooking them down with a large quantity of sugar. So there's probably 0 or next-to-0 actual alcohol in the ice cream.

The coffee, though, is probably real, so brace yourself for the firey depths.

I'm kinda disappointed that my bicycling only burns about 450 calories (I can't remember the exact number). Everyone tells me I should start swimming again myself, but it's so inconvenient when you don't have a local gym and don't have money and/or don't want to get up at 6am to go to the pool around the corner (because it occurs to me that my excuses are null, because the Brookline High pool is about 2 blocks away).

Emily, at least I'll be with friends.

Stacy, yeah, you have no excuse. But then neither did I for a couple of months. Didn't keep me from making them.
