All Law, All the Time

Barbri highlights of the day: Today's Topic - Essay Writing

He who shall hereafter be known as Bread Boy. Based on a couple of his comments, I could already tell he was a quirky Harvard Law School guy. (Seriously, some students at Harvard Law really shouldn't be let out in public.) Today he shows up with a big round loaf of Italian bread and proceeds to eat half of it over the 3 hour lecture. Every so often he'd reach over, rip off a hunk, and nibble away as he took notes.

Crackberry Lady (love the term "Crackberry") left before the last hour of class despite telling the girl on the other side of her that she wasn't a good essay writer. Um, ok. Shooting yourself in the foot a little? I also discovered today that I'm not the only one who's noticed her Crackberry tendencies.

The big bearded guy laughing uproariously when the lecturer began his essay lecture by stating that of course we wouldn't have gotten this far without knowing how to write an essay. Apparently big bearded guy pulled one over on his law school. Then he slept through the last hour of lecture.

This is my latest bounty from the Westlaw Rewards program.

My roommate's blender disappeared a few weeks ago, much to my chagrin since I had just perfected the recipe for the perfect smoothie. Over the course of a few months it had been getting cracks in the plastic, the blade couldn't chop anything harder than a banana, and eventually the handle just fell off. It was still usable, though. I came home one day all set to whip up my post-workout smoothie and no blender. It was just gone. Base, pitcher, all of it. I figured maybe it finally broke all the way and my roommate threw it away.

So I used some of my Westlaw points to order my groovy new blender. Works great!

But here's the weird conversation I had with my roommate the other day when the blender arrived (bearing in mind I'd already confirmed with my other roommate that she had no idea where the blender was):

Me: "I got a new blender so we can make smoothies again! Whatever happened to yours anyway?"

Her: "What do you mean? Nothing."

Me: "Um, well, a few weeks ago I came home and it wasn't here so I assumed it broke and you threw it out or something."

Her: "No." Walks into the kitchen to verify that the blender is not where it usually is. "Huh. Yeah, I don't know." Walks back to room completely unperturbed that her blender has vanished into thin air.

See, this is why I really like my roommate at times, and other times just don't understand her at all. How do you lose a blender? And then upon learning that you've lost a major appliance, how do you not care?

Stylish new blender.

And yes, odd about the old blender.

I have to ask, because I'm confused. Are these lectures you're going to videos, or are they real people standing up in your classroom doing these strange antics like singing law code?

I would figure that Bread Boy and Sleeping Man would be the same! I swear, if I carb-loaded like that through class, I'd be out during Hour 2, no joke. I wonder how he does it!

Bread man is the thoughtless clod that makes wearing earplugs to the Bar Exam a neccessity. Didn't you want to have the Barbri lecturer walk up to him and ask, "Did you bring enough bread for everyone in class today?"
