A couple of months ago I had a divine meal at our favorite French restaurant that included a side of brussels sprouts in a yummy, slightly fruity glaze. Since then, I've been intrigued with finding good brussels sprouts recipes. I don't have any bad childhood memory baggage associated with them, like I know a lot of people do. Plus, I think they're kind of cute. Wee little cabbages.
Last night I tried a recipe for Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts. What could be better, right? Jason and I summed them up with a big, "Meh." They weren't awful, but I don't feel the need to ever make them again.
So does anyone have a good brussels sprouts recipe?

They might be better if you braised them in that sauce instead of roasting them

This one isn't really healthy, per se, but it is easy, low carb, and we tried them this weekend and liked them:

I personally really like them just roasted w/Parmesan cheese - half or quarter them, toss them in some olive oil, add parmesan and roast.
Enjoy.
I've never seen any with a fruity glaze, so if you DO find the perfect version let us know. The one I use is from 101 Cookbooks--it's this recipe.
I have this recipe from Cooking light that I have used over and over. I could eat the entire bowl full of them myself!
Brussels halved and peeled
1 Tbls or so of olive oil
1 Tbls of sugar
1 tsp of salt
Mix well.
Roast at 425 for about 20 minutes until nice and brown at the edges. Then toss with a mixture of 1 tbsp of butter mixed with 1 tbsp of fresh parsley (although I've also used dried). Then top with some parmesean cheese.
Most of these measurements are guesses. But it will be hard not to eat them all up straightaway! They are divine!
We eat them roasted, tossed with just olive oil, salt, and pepper. I'm tempted to try some of the other suggestions posted above, however!
I've only had them once and had the same reaction as you did to last night's recipe - "meh". But, they seem to be everywhere now! So, I'll check back and perhaps give one of the suggestions you get a go.
