I got a phone message yesterday from the non-profit I interviewed with. I thought, ooo, phone call. That's got to be good, right? No. They said thanks a lot, but they've asked a couple of other people back to continue the interview process.
I have mixed feelings.
1) It would have ROCKED MY WORLD to have a real job and not feel like a loser who's almost 30 and who's in lots of debt and who wasted 3 years of her life.
2) It was in my field doing something that sounded fascinating with lots of cool networking opportunities.
3) However, as I discussed previously, since they are a non-profit, there was always the little niggling issue in the back of my mind as to whether they could pay me enough so that I could make my Boston rent and my student loan payment all in the same month.
4) It was in a teeny tiny office and they basically told me I'd be having a lot of alone time as often some of my 4 co-workers would telecommute. While I do like my alone time, at heart I'm generally pretty social and day after day of no social interaction makes me a little loopy. It also makes me start over-analyzing things that have no need to be over-analyzed, really, it's just me making lots of great big mountains out of molehills.
So thanks to all of you for your good wishes. For whatever reason, this wasn't my job. I'm just hoping it shows up someday. Like in July. July would be good.

So sorry Kelly. But something will come up. You will get a job and it will be great! And when you get it, that job will be made just for you. It'll happen! Keep your chin up.
So sorry this didn't work out. On the other hand, reviewing your pros and cons list it seems no great loss - that it wouldn't have been that swell a job. Or perhaps this is just applied sour grapes technique. Whatever.
The job faeries are on your side, so be of good cheer.
BTW, I am up for a couple of nice jobs right now - permanent with bennies - and have a second interview with one this Friday. Cross your fingers and toes for me. ;-)
And know that you are in our thoughts and prayers always.
