Soundtrack

Have you ever wondered if your life was a movie what the soundtrack would be like?

This is officially my new favorite game. Some of the songs are eerily appropriate, while Bodyrock by Moby for a funeral - probably not so much. Although I have always liked the idea of the New Orleans funeral with the jazz band playing some fun music, 'cause, you know, let's celebrate the person, and really funerals can be kind of fun as you get to see family you haven't seen in ages. Maybe Moby is the modern equivalent of that.

Or, if you want to be macabre: "We rock the body, rock the body."

I think it's safe to say that I like the Pixies.

Here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.

Opening credits: Allison - Pixies (that gets my soundtrack off to a rockin' start)

Waking up: True Faith - New Order (meh)

First Day at School: Material Girl - Madonna (hee hee)

Falling in love: The Look - Roxette (And I go "La la la la la" She's got the look!)

Fight Song: Have You Got It In You - Imogen Heap

Breaking Up: Heart of Stone - Erasure (wow, it's like they know my ex)

Prom: Happy Jack - The Who

Life's OK: Daylight Robbery - Imogen Heap

Mental Breakdown: Overkill - Colin Hay (so true)

Driving: River Euphrates - Pixies (when I first learned to drive, the Pixies were in constant rotation)

Inner Smile: Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes (totally)

Flashback: Just A Little While - Janet Jackson (apparently it's a dirty flashback...)

Getting Back Together: Fighting for My Love - Nil Lara (I swear I am not making this up)

Wedding: Blue Orchid - The White Stripes

Birth of a Child: Gigantic - Pixies (... hahahahahaha)

Final Battle: Sky Fits Heaven - Madonna (I think my final battle would be more of an inner, personal struggle: Traveling down this road, watching the signs as I go. Think I'll follow the sun. Isn't everyone just traveling down their own road, watching the signs as they go? Think I'll follow my heart. It's a very good place to start)

Death Scene: The Navajo Knows - Pixies

Funeral : Bodyrock - Moby

Everyone should play this game right now.

I see we're posting so here's mine after all. I thought it was going to be a little heavy on Buffett since I don't have ALL my CDs in my player, but it worked out pretty evenly - much like you and the Pixies. ;-)

Opening credits: Blame It On the Weatherman - B*witched

Waking up: Say Goodbye to Hollywood - Billy Joel

First Day at School: Pacing the Cage - Jimmy Buffett (not making this up - you won't believe how these lyrics fit)

Falling in love: Fruitcakes - Buffett (well, y'know)

Fight Song: Bread 'N' Butter Boogie - David Clayton-Thomas (again, cool lyrics for the topic)

Breaking Up: A Pirate Looks at Forty (at first I thought naww! but then realized it's about life passages and changes so it's pretty appropriate)

Prom: Everybody's Talking - Buffett cover of Harry Nilsson song.

Life's OK: Farmhouse - Phish

Mental Breakdown: Worse Comes to Worst - Billy Joel

Driving: Up To Me - Jethro Tull (it's a drivin' song)

Inner Smile: Cheeseburger In Paradise - Buffett (Oh, yeah)

Flashback: To Much Love Will Kill You - Queen

Getting Back Together: All Day Thinkin' - Baby Face

Wedding: Mademoiselle (Voulez-Vous Danser) - Buffett (another good fit)

Birth of a Child: Wooden Ships - Crosby, Stills & Nash (tough call - some interesting correlations but too many lyrics from a 'stoned' perspective)

Final Battle: My Immortal - Evanescence (hmm)

Death Scene: Let Me Live - Queen (no kidding!)

Funeral: Last Mango in Paris - Buffett (another song about a long life and changes - spooky)

Of course, the one change I would have to make would be my funeral song. That's always been 'One Particular Harbor' by Jimmy. The last chorus goes:

"There's that one particular harbor;
Sheltered from the wind;
Where the children play on the shore each day;
And all are safe within.

"Most mysterious, calling harbor;
So far, and yet so near.
I can see the day when my hair's full gray;
And I finally disappear."

Always brings a tear to my eye - I dunno how he manages to sing it at every concert.

This was 'way fun!

Ok. Mine stinks.

Opening Credits; Go Daddy-o (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy). apparently my movie is set in the '90's.

Waking Up: Think it over (Buddy Holly)

First Day at School: Why Should I Care (Diana Krall). Ummm . .

Falling in love: Bewitched (Frank Sinatra). Ok. That one's good.

Fight Song: String Quartet #14 (Mozart). Because I get in the lamest fights ever?

Breaking Up: Get the Funk Outta My Face (Brothers Johnson) Also good,

Prom: Mystery (Manhattan Transfer). It does kind of say "tension on the dance floor."

Life's OK: Kiss Me (Harry Connick Jr.). Life's apparently more than ok.

Mental Breakdown: Rollin' and Tumblin' (R.L.Burnside)

Driving: Stormy Blues (Billie Holiday). I'm apparently driving to or from something truly depressing?

Inner Smile: Forbidden Fruit (Kings of Pleasure)

Flashback: Watcha Gonna Do? (Cowboy Mouth). It's an angry flashback, I guess.

Getting Back Together: S'Wonderful (Don Laurence Orchestra). Ok, that's probably the most appropriate of the whole bunch.

Wedding: Our Day Will Come (Jimmy Scott). Um. . .that's a little maudlin for a wedding. Unless I'm marrying the wrong person while my twu wuv stands over in the corner looking on and being depressed. . .

Birth of a Child: Jambalaya (Jol-el Soliere). Because my baby is Cajun?

Final Battle: Promiscuous (Nelly Furtado). I'm ok with this one.

Death Scene: Guitar (Cake). Because I throw the guitar out the window. . .and then throw myself out after it?

Funeral: Zoot Suit Riot (Chill Pill Dancers). Because my Cajun baby couldn't even pick an appropriate funeral song after being raised in the swamp his entire life?

Edge, Wanted Dead or Alive is a pretty good fight song.

DanaLee, I'm Too Sexy?! Hahahahaha

Dad, your falling in love song made me laugh. So true, so true. ;)

Jordan, I so want you to name your first born "Jambalaya".

Okay, so my sountrack would have to be called "Husband Stole My iPod," but you just HAVE to patent this game, Kelly. Totally awesome. You'd make millions!!
