Since my mom is too busy to check her email lately, I thought I'd poll the internet community at large for advice. So, should I buy these?
Pros:
1) I cook a lot and would love to have a decent set of pots and pans. Right now I use the $30 Wal-Mart Special set that I bought 4 years ago. Oh, and the 2 saute pans my parents got me for Christmas last year. Those are still in great condition. (Tip: when the Teflon starts to flake off, it's time to throw the pans away. I didn't realize I could be POISONED by Teflon. Or at the very least, get a stomach-ache).
2) I like to cook big pots of chili and homemade soup when it's cold. The Wal-Mart Special stockpot isn't big enough so I bought another pot on sale somewhere. However, the pot isn't stainless steel or all-clad or copper or anything like that so even when it's just simmering I always wind up with a little black present glued onto the bottom of the pot when I'm done because it doesn't heat evenly. Especially when I'm using gas burners, which I am. This set comes with an 8 qt stockpot, which sounds perfect.
3) They're pretty.
Cons:
1)I still live with roommates and worry about the respect that my nice pots and pans will get. I'll probably be living with roommates next year too.
2) (um, I can't really think of another con)
Yes, the pros seemingly outweigh the cons, but I am torn.

Well I think they look great, and it's a great deal. Go for it before they're sold out!
You deserve it.
;-)
Cookware isn't well-seasoned until the teflon begins to flake off. If you switch now, you'll miss the best part! Anyway, I'm a little suspicious of "stainless" steel. I've got a "stainless" baking pan and every time I cook a roast or something, all I get are stains.

P.S.: Is there like, no internal moot court thing this year, or is it just being handled very, very quietly?
get them...you can always hide them under your bed if you don't want the roomies to touch 'em. Ask for the all-clad when you get married. 200 bucks a pan is too much to justify on a grad students budget.
Thanks so much for the "when" I get married. :)
I think that if someone turns 30 and isn't married, they should be able to register for gifts. Then I could get my all-clad.
I bought a similar set at Costco and we've been pleased. Ever since we decided to dump the teflon, and decided that perhaps Cephalon/Aluminum wasn't for us, we had been looking. My sixteen year old insisted we get her a set of her own too.
Anyway, we've been very pleased.
Thanks for the input, Stephen. I'm leaning toward getting them even though one of my roommates looked at me like I was crazy last night when I mentioned it. However, she is only 22 and generally uses our current pots and pans to heat up soup, so she's not really into the whole joy of cooking thing like I am.
Doug, I forgot to answer this last time. There is Moot Court, but PJ is in charge so thus far it's running quietly and smoothly.
